You wouldn’t think it would be so difficult to decide how to spend your day ‘doing nothing’, which is what many of our guests liked to do when booking their stay with us at Gulf Breeze.
Choosing the perfect shelling spot, the best restaurant or the best activity to participate in can seem overwhelming because of the overload of options available to travelers. We would like to simplify things for you and highlight one of our favorite attractions on the island, which just so happens to be an amazing contributor of our community- CROW: Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife.
Acting primarily as a wildlife hospital, CROW stands as a national leader in wild animal care and rehabilitation. CROW opened in 1968 and years later the center continues to compassionately treat close to 4,000 sick, injured and abandoned animal patients. Crow is composed of a 4-thousand square-foot hospital on 12 acres of Sanibel. CROW’s mission is “saving wildlife through care, education and collaboration”. Patients rotate in and out of the center and include animals such as pelicans, bald eagles, otters, sea turtles and many more.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the CROW experience at their Visitor Education Center, located directly on their campus off San-Cap road. Take the whole family to enjoy interactive displays, presentations, animal encounters and videos, all made available to educate the general public. Please note that visitors are not allowed to directly interact with patients, in aim to maintain their health and privacy.
CROW is located a short drive from your accommodations with us at Gulf Breeze, make the trip next time you are in town– support Sanibel Island local wildlife hospital!
